about
This song comments on how Religion over the years has been used for so much evil. From simply manipulating devotees to all out genocide and everywhere in between. The song lyrically is inspired by American cult killers in the 70’s such as ‘The Sons Of Sam’ killings and comments lyrically a lot about this particular event throughout.
It also touches on general cultism, sexual violence and the ‘Satanic Panic’ of the 80’s. The track opens a warped sample of the 'Jones Town' massacres which is accompanied by an array of dark synthetic synth textures and even some cymbals that we bowed with a cello bow.
Although the song can be perceived as commenting on ‘Satanism’ in a negative light it is commenting from the public's warped understanding and view of Satanism in these decades. Like ‘The Sons Of Sam’ murders, they worshiped the evil parts of the bible and Christianity not true Satanism as we know it today, which actually has very positive values.
This track is easily the darkest track on the record due to its meaning and all the textures that reflect this.
lyrics
This is the work of god
Random acts of organised violence
Innocents were hunted, stalked and slain for years in the night
Pornographic obsession led to snuff movie curation
Secret meetings, splinter groups of the occult underground
I lay waste to the west in my Sunday best
I rock a bullet proof vest and don a chiselled gold crest
Yeah you guest I'm blessed not like the rest
I'm obsessed with the quest.
This is the work of god
This is the work of god
A mental breakdown disguised as spiritual rebirth
Satanic symbols strewn across the walls in blood
From the gutters of the streets filled with shit and piss
Comes an evil lay in wait to put lay waste to us all
Decapitated dogs are found in the park
And people see cloaked figures roam in the dark
An evil lay in wait to lay waste to us all
It could be right next door
This is the work of god
This is the work of god
The control of the cult
Come visit torture school
Where hate turns to love
Come worship with us
The control of the cult
Come visit torture school
Where hate turns to love
Come worship with us
The control of the cult
Come visit torture school
Where hate turns to love
Come worship with us
Nothing left but to confess your sins
For the whole world can watch now we can to tune in
So here's three cheers for the end of you
As we gawp at the depravity you claim is insanity
Succumb by dark, lost sight of the light
You had your time and now you made your point
Sadistic ceremonies came to surface at night
Now your downfall comes because you know we're right
